Djakarta
Djakarta - Executive Producer, New American Divas, is a native of Washington, DC, she first developed her talent at the prestigious Kennedy Center, Howard University and Ellington School of Arts where she trained in theater. There she developed a passion for performance while playing a major part in several stage productions including Antigone, Ubu Roi, For Colored Girls and A Day of Absence. Later, while majoring in psychology at Trinity University in DC, she traveled to Australia, Indonesia and Singapore where she explored the cultures and religions of the modern and indigenous peoples of that region. Upon returning home, she made a splash on the visual arts scene while attending the Corcoran College of Art + Design. During that 5 year period, she won 3 grants, a residency at St. Mary’s College and participated in dozens of critically acclaimed shows. On July 4, 2008, Djakarta arrived in Hollywood with a dream, quickly got an agent and joined Playhouse West, to brush up on Meisner and perform Shakespeare. Frustrated, awaiting her big break- she questioned, “Who’s In Charge Here?” Answered, “I AM.” And rightly became a producer. Never giving up on her dream of being an accomplished artist, under New American Divas, she knows it won’t be long before she takes her place among the stars
